Angel Ambassadors Recognized by Trudeau

Sisters Naomi Shi '18 and Nicole Shi '18 are volunteering much of their summer to go to Guangzhou, China as cultural student ambassadors where they will be responsible for teaching Chinese students about Canada. Organized by the Canada Global Culture and Education Association and the Richmond Youth Services Agency, the trip was commended by Prime Minister Trudeau for helping to build goodwill between Canada and China.
Nicole and Naomi were recently selected as Canadian Cultural Ambassadors. They will be volunteering in Guangzhou for five weeks over the summer to teach Chinese students more about the Canadian Culture. Strong students and widely involved in the life of LFA, Nicole and Naomi will be teaching specifically on Canadian History, the Canadian Government, and Social Justice in Canada. It's a perfect fit for the girls as they are active members of the school's Social Justice Club (Youth in Action), our Model UN Club, and key contributors to our school newspaper, The Globe and Halo. The trip and responsibilities represent an incredible opportunity for these active students to develop their leadership and communication skills.

They will be part of a group of Canadian students who are teaching more than 2000 Chinese students. The Canadian Cultural Ambassadors travel and volunteer in Guangzhou with a purpose to improve relations between Canada and China. It is sponsored by Canada Global Culture and Education Association, as well as other organizations. The importance of the trip in Guangzhou is indicated by the close partnership of the Governments (Foshan Education Bureau and Zhongshan Education Bureau) Of Guangzhou Province, China with the Canadian Cultural Ambassadors. Nicole and Naomi will have the opportunity to work closely with the Education Bureaus.

Both girls are really excited to not only represent Canada, but to represent Little Flower Academy, where they have the opportunities to share LFA's values and attributes overseas. Their parents are, "overjoyed that the twins have this chance to give back to the Canadian community through this experience." The girls are both very strong field hockey players (who, of course, play for LFA's top team), and their mother commented that they might, "even teach a bit of field hockey to the Chinese students too."

Congratulations Naomi and Nicole!
