After carefully watching the weather forecast over the last week, along with the Environment Canada update released this morning, and considering the safety and responsibility of transporting students to Squamish, we have made the difficult decision of canceling the retreat scheduled for Tuesday, November 30.
We have not come to this decision lightly, as our retreat program is an important part of our Religious Education program and an experience that can be enriching and affirming for students. However, the safety of the students while traveling on the Sea to Sky Highway remains our top priority.
It is our hope to offer students this retreat later in the school year. Unfortunately, at this time there are no suitable dates available for the Cheakamus Centre. We will continue to work on finding an alternative date, in consultation with the retreat centre and the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation who are an integral part of the retreat program.
Grade 11 students are asked to attend classes on November 30. Teachers will be understanding that, as students anticipated being on retreat, they may not be completely prepared for this class. Accommodations will be made.
