Senior Basketball Win to Finish Regular Season

For our senior players, it might feel like the time has flown by. This group of seniors certainly left an impression: Alexis Fong ‘19, Ashley Velasco ‘19, Ceili McCabe ‘19, Kayla Canama ‘19, Sharon Luk ’19 and Isabel Jalandoon ’19 have been part of the LFA basketball program for five years. Always a little undersized, they’ve been entertaining to watch and have played some great ball. They have certainly earned a reputation among those who’ve played us for their passion, grit and determination. These girls have been both outstanding players and teammates. They’ve helped establish a real culture of resilience and hard work that will certainly carry over to those coming up the ranks.

The graduates would like to thank all Angels who have played with them throughout the years. They’ve made lasting memories. Thanks to the coaches for their commitment and time spent away from their family. Thank you is also owed to the parents and supporters, for their part in making for a great experience, whether it was driving and making sure the snacks were plentiful. Finally, many thanks to the team managers for constantly retrieving loose balls in practice, filling water bottles, and getting the ice packs. LFA has given them a platform to creativity express themselves through basketball.

That all said, the season is not over yet! It’s time to get ready to qualify for the provincials. A favourite NIKE slogan describes a basketball journey: “Start Unknown, Finish Unforgettable”. Let’s plan on that being the case for this fantastic group of young women.
