Notre-Dame 53 - LFA 31

Coach Allan
Despite the lost the Junior LFA Team did yet make their way to the Junior Lower Mainland Championships.  Congratulations! The Championships are from Wednesday February 13 to Saturday the 16. Their first game of the championships will be on Wednesday February 13 @ 5:00pm vs Burnaby South. Check the schedule for more details.
The Angels were playing their 3rd game in 3 nights and once again with a short bench. Although the junior Angels started the season with a nice sized roster of 12 players, they lost Elise Lim Dickens '21 to the senior team, Vanessa Kawahji '21 to injury, and although Alexis Mezzaroba '21 returned to the line-up, the Angels lost Kate-Lynn Hanna '21 tonight and were down to 9 players.

Just as STM came out pressing, so did Notre Dame. The Angels fared better with Alexis back, but still had some problems with the press. Although Notre Dame was able to get a small lead in the first quarter with their press the Angels were still in the game. But as the game got to the 2nd quarter Notre Dame ran away with the game, literally as they turned the game into a track meet and they were simply better conditioned than the Angels and also had a deeper bench to draw from.

Unfortunately Lauren Accili '21 had issues with shin splints playing her 3rd game in 3 days and could not deliver the outside shooting as she did against STM. Carmen Accili '21 had perhaps her best game of the season on the offensive end securing at least 4 offensive rebounds and 3 baskets. Carmen also took a charge and became the 3rd player to earn $10 for taking a charge. Carmen could be seen making the "Money Manziel" gesture after taking the charge, to the delight of her teammates. Natalie Hui '21 showed the offensive aggressiveness coach had been asking for and made a nice drive and finish.

Mikayla Stelling '21 continued to show offensive improvement and created a number of turnovers.

This was the second game of three games in a row the junior Angels played or will play a ranked team. Considering the strength of the opposition, the Angels are playing well.
