Absentee Policy & Procedures: We Need to Hear from You

Did you know that the BC Ministry of Education audits LFA every year to ensure lates and absences are authorized by the guardians of each child? If your daughter is going to be late for school or absent for any reason, we ask that you notify the office electronically, with the details, before 8:30am.

To help with our year-end attendance audit, we're requesting an electronic notification of absence. This can be done by email or through our website Student Absentee Form.

Online Student Absent/Late Form

New this year is an online form you can complete for you daughter's absence. Visit www.lfabc.org/absent or simply click "Quicklinks" on the website, where it appears in the drop-down.

Email
Good old email. You may send an email to our 'attendance' email address. A good idea is to add this email address to your mail contacts making it easy for you to find it on your device. When sending your message please send from a parent email account on file here at LFA. For reference, the email is attendance@lfabc.org. The email will 'do' - no need to send an additional written note!

Phone/Written Note
While we prefer electronic or written notice from a parent, we have an "absentee mailbox" on our voice mail system that can be accessed any time that we are not in the office to answer your phone call. 604-738-9016.

Should you use this method of contact please know that you will need to follow up with an online form submission, or email to attendance@lfabc.org, or a written note Absentee Note (PDF).

Planned Absences

For a planned absence (scheduled appointments, vacations) we would be grateful for an electronic note (online form or email) in advance.

School Day Absence Policy
Your support as Parents/Guardians is needed with the following policy:
  • Students may not leave the school grounds at any time during the school day without a note of permission or a phone call from a parent. In the case of a phone call, an emailonline form submission, or written note (PDF) must be submitted immediately upon her return to school.
  • If, during the day, your daughter is feeling ill and needs to go home she must come to the Office to make that arrangement.
  • Students who arrive at school any later than the start of Homeroom must come to the office to check in to ensure we know that they are present and to obtain an "admit slip".
Should you have any questions or need further clarification please email Corilee Cotter.
