A Campus Master Plan

With that in mind, I am writing to let you know that the process to develop a Campus Master Plan for Little Flower Academy has begun. Planning consultants have been tasked with exploring how teaching and learning interact at Little Flower. Faculty input, curriculum and pedagogical changes, and best practice will inform our unique Campus Master Plan for the next generation of students and families at LFA.

This endeavour fits very much in a timeline of careful and considered campus development at LFA, which has consistently responded to the changing opportunities for women in society. In 1992, the Sisters of St. Ann built the science wing: women in science needed a great start from their high school. In 2007, our community came together to build the modern wing with the library, gym, art studio, offices and dining hall: we needed modern tools to deliver a well-balanced education. These past four years, we have pursued an extraordinary investment in technology, building one of the most dynamic STEAM programs of any local high school, independent or public. We have also responded to the changing use of libraries at academic institutions by transforming our library commons over the past two years to foster a passion for reading and encourage opportunities for individual and group learning.

We are approaching this Campus Master Planning project with the same attitude we would expect from our students: with open minds, critical thinking and faith. The professionals we have hired are campus planning experts who have vast experience working with schools, colleges and universities in BC and across Canada. While there are specific needs of our campus that we can identify today, the process and a plan will ultimately give us a roadmap for what’s possible and an understanding for how best to achieve the most dynamic learning environment for our daughters.

Whether the outcome is extensive building or thoughtful renovations, we want to share with you that the process is underway. We can celebrate that our community will continue to be blessed with the option for our young women to have an extraordinary, all-girls, Catholic education. For this, we are grateful and we see a very bright future for your daughters and granddaughters.
