Angels Grab Draw with South Delta

The Senior Angels field hockey team travelled to Delta for a final warm up game before Zone Championships. Despite playing some great hockey and earning a flood of short corners, the girls could not find a way through the SDSS goalie and had to settle for a draw.
From the outset, the girls poured on the pressure. Moving the ball well around the back and owning the midfield, LFA worked their way into the SDSS D with regularity. While stout defending and great goaltending was on display, LFA probably should have had a couple of goals. Charlie Kan '22 had a lovely low shot. Nyah Fisher '23 had a rebound that glanced off the goalies pad. Jo Fitch '23 roofed a shot that the goalie swatted away. Shannon Stelling '23 had several shots saved or go barely wide. Alicia Lung '23 came back from injury, having a number of wicked shots saved. With more than a dozen corners, a scoreless tie was possibly disappointing. Still, the girls remained positive and focused on the heaps of good play they had throughout the contest that led to all the chances. There will be games on field turf at Provincials in early November, so it's a good start. Thanks to SDSS for hosting us! We look forward to a game again next year.
