LFA's Community Care Club Performs Outreach with Art Show

LFA Community Care Club students recently partnered up with Whole Way House Society, a Christian charitable organization, in an effort to bring joy and hope to the lives of seniors in our city through art!
Over the last few months, a wide range of students from Grade 8 to 12 worked to create 70 paintings which they donated to the organization which hopes to build community and combat isolation amidst the lives of seniors and veterans in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. They then hosted an art afternoon at one of the senior residences, sharing refreshments and conversations, with each resident choosing a painting to keep and take back to brighten up their home.

One student commented, “It was heartwarming to see the joy that our presence and our art brought to the seniors. I was able to see how both my artwork and my conversations can make a difference for others.”
Another said, “I think that the art show really brightened up these seniors’ day because they got to see that they were thought of. Everyone wants that in their life – to know someone thinks about them and cares.”
It was wonderful to get to initiate this partnership with Whole Way House Society and we look forward to continue working with them in the future.
