Angels Clinch Berth in Championship Draw

The Sr. A Field Hockey Angels were full value this morning, putting in a genuinely great effort and confidently taking a 1-0 victory over a good Glen Eagle team.
The run of play was entirely with the Angels this morning as the girls came out flying. From the first whistle, our team went on the attack. We exploited the strong, right side from the first few passes. All of our wingers found loads of the ball, especially as Alex Legge '19 found herself open on the right side and was playing her best, distributing opportunities to the wingers time after time after time.

Eleanor Morrison '19 and Ava MacFarlane '20 continuted thier confident, smart play in the centre of the pitch, which opened up so much of the field to build up and quality attack. Gabby Lee '19, Sophie Morris '19, Mira Teoli '18 and Lorraine Fabre '18 all found themselves with loads of opportunities and made the most of them to get scoring chances and short corners. Allison Kuzyk '20 continued to be a force on the front line and gave the defenders fits. She was unlucky to have only the one goal, which didn't come until the second half.

A shout out to our defenders, who played great as a unit, neutralizing some very clever players on Glen Eagle who were always a worry on the counter-attack.

With the win, LFA moves into the Championship draw of the tournament, playing for a spot among the top 8. It's been several years since we've managed this feat at Bridgman, which is the premier field hockey tournament combining both AA and AAA teams. They will face off against Argyle this afternoon to see if they can get themselves top 4! Go Angels!
