Model UN Finishes Year with More Success
Great Success at CAHSMUN 2018 and final thoughts on the year!
Over the April 6-8 weekend, 43 LFA Model UN students attended CAHSMUN at the Sheraton Hotel in Vancouver. This local conference of over 800 students is very interesting as it allows students to delegate with many local students from all over the greater Vancouver area and Victoria. This year, there were schools from Washington State, Alberta and South America.
Over the April 6-8 weekend, 43 LFA Model UN students attended CAHSMUN at the Sheraton Hotel in Vancouver. This local conference of over 800 students is very interesting as it allows students to delegate with many local students from all over the greater Vancouver area and Victoria. This year, there were schools from Washington State, Alberta and South America.
Many students made great gains, took risks and enjoyed meeting and liaising with new people. Special congratulations go to the following 5 students who won awards at the conference:
- Rosemary Vayakunnel '19 who represented USA on the CRC (Committee of the Rights of the Child who won the Best Delegate Award on the Summit Committee.
- Cindy Gau '19 who represented USA on the OAS (Organization of American States) who won the Outstanding Delegate Awar
- Naomi Shi '18 who represented China on the UNSC (Unites Nations Security Council) who won the Outstanding Delegate Award
- Christy Anna Chung '19 who was the national Chief of Staff on the IPRC ( the Assembly of First Nations Committee) who won the Best Position Paper Award
- Phoebe Cheung '18 who represented Canada on the OAS (Organization of American States) who won the Best Position Paper Award.
LFA ended the academic year at CAHSMUN with a very strong performance. The approximately 140 LFA MUN club members represented LFA exceptionally well at each and every conference this year. A total of 35 awards were won by LFA students at 5 conferences revealing great aptitude, interest, dedication and application to the subject matter of each and every committee. Most notably, there were many personal gains in tangible ways as evidenced by the improved public speaking skills and increased knowledge gained by all. In addition, the somewhat intangible gains to one's self confidence, one's assertiveness and one's social development cannot be underscored.
Well done to all Model UN Angels who attended CASMUN! You are all soaring!
