Angels Tennis Fifth in BC
Another stellar tennis season is on the books! The “Winged Finnegans”, a combination of players from VC and LFA, had a very successful season ending with a strong fifth place finish at the BC Provincial Championships.
The team was solid from the start, easily winning league games against Notre Dame, STM and battling hard against the powerhouse team from Crofton/Saints. During playoffs, with their season on the line they defeated Kits High and came close to beating rivals Magee. They clinched a spot in provincials after playing some outstanding tennis to beat Lord Byng.

Provincials started with an easy victory over Riverside, but the Winged Finnegans then lost to a very talented Sentinel squad. The next day they once again came across Magee in the quarterfinals. The girls really carried the team and won all four doubles games, but still fell to Magee and were relegated to play for 5th place. Keeping their heads held high, the team beat their next two opponents, McMath and Oak Bay, and pulled off an incredible 5th place finish.
A huge thank you to our graduating Angels: Lorraine Fabre '18, Jessica Goodridge '18, Kasie Kwok '18, Naomi Shi '18, and Nicole Shi '18, for your leadership on the court. Thanks also to our teacher sponsor Señora Espinel and our manager Kasie Kwok '18 for helping organize a sport that is often very confusing to organize. We are also very grateful for our coach, Mr. Macken, who takes the time every season to help us reach our full potential!
