Alumna Running for Park Board

LFA alumna Ann-Marie (Carter) Copping '81 will be running for Park Board in the upcoming Vancouver civic election on October 20. She attended LFA for 5 years from grades 6-10 (grad 1981) and when her daughter, Lauren Copping '12 started at LFA, Ann-Marie became involved in the Parents' Auxiliary Committee and was active with the Alumnae Executive.
After 25 years in business working for hospitality, tourism, ski/golf industries, Ann-Marie switched careers to manage the Ocean Wise Sustainable Seafood program across Canada for the past 7 years. Working for an environmental conservation organization allowed her to gain a significant new appreciation of the dramatic impact consumer-choice can have on our environment. A strong advocate for children’s causes, she spent many years on the national board for Kids Help Phone and co-chaired the Walk for Kids Help Phone.

When asked why she wants to get involved on the Park Board, Ann-Marie explained that, “ Vancouver is a great city and what makes it so amazing is our network of parks, beaches and recreational services. With densification and people living in smaller spaces, I want to ensure all residents have easy access to parks and community centres.”
