Angels Beat Cross-Street Rivals

Parent Contributor
In the battle of 26th Street, the Angels were energized by the return of Kayla Canama ’19 after missing last season due to injury and put in a fantastic performance.
The team has not had a full practice with everyone available so it’s been a challenge to find their rhythm. The Tigers took advantage and scored early as the Angels were out of sync. LFA’s generally pin-point passing, which typically leads to transition baskets was “off”  as they found their groove. Without the speed, it allowed the Tigers to reset on defence and disrupt passing lanes. Again the early season rust also had us missing some makeable baskets when we did find a way through.

LFA’s persistence, however, paid off. Great pressure defence turned the tide, taking away time and space. The offence started to “heat up” and by  half time LFA had started to pull away, leading 30-14. The Angels closed out the game with a 62-41 win. After two league wins, the Angels will need to stay healthy and for every player to contribute on both ends of the court to reach the next level. The team will prepare for their league game next Tuesday against St. Patrick's and then they'll head off to take part in the Burnaby North tournament before Christmas break.
Go Angels!
