Angels Win Tournament Opener

Parent contributor
With several early-season injuries, our Senior Basketball Angels played with seven players in their first game of the Viking/Wildcat Tournament.
The Burnaby North Vikings came at LFA with their height and physicality; but, the Angels responded with their athleticism and counter attack. Ceili McCabe ’19 continued her scoring ways and Ava Macfarlane ’20 played her best game of the season on both ends of the court--hitting some key shots and defending well.

Ashley Velasco’19 and Alexis Fong ’19 spent most of the game battling and defending the low post, trying to box out much bigger players. They were key in setting up the Angels' transition game. Maya Landero-Van ’20 played her usual steady game, using her quickness to create time and space to get lay ups and perimeter shots. Isabel Jalandoon ’19 and Elise Lim Dickens ’21 provided much needed energy off the bench to keep the Vikings from mounting any sustained attack. The Angels won 79-59.

Ceili was chosen as player of game. Alexis is representing LFA during half time of each game in the three point shooting contest; after round one of four she hit 13 in the one minute contest.
