Angels Finish Tourney with Win

Though the girls will be disappointed their first game loss took them out of medal contention, they rebounded with a win yesterday against a scrappy West Van team another win against the Carson Graham Eagles. Angels were keen to determine their 4th place finish.
The Angels opened the game playing an up-tempo game, using the speed of Ceili Mccabe ’19 and Maya Landero van ’20 receiving passes from Ashley Velasco ’19. Unlike in the previous games, the shots finally fell in, which really energizing the team.

Alison Kuzyk ’20 put on her workboots and made her presence felt in the post areas, while Ava Macfarlane ’20 plugged the holes with her tenacity. Ava was battling for loose ball on both ends of the court. Both Allison and Ava are also starting to show their scoring touch around the basket.

Alexis Fong ’19 recovering from injury played limited minutes, but contributed to the win with her steady defence and ball distribution. She also scored a couple of threes and had a perfectly executed give-and-go in the paint with Ashley for a lovely basket. Elise Lim Dickins ’20 had her best scoring performance of the season, hitting multiple perimeter shots. The Angels built up a 14 point lead at half time. The second half, the Angels started to pull away and they cruised to a 30 point win.

It was a good team effort where every player got on the score sheet. Junior team call-ups played and gained valuable experience, seeing first-hand the physicality and pace between junior and varsity games. Well done Angels.
