This experience proved too tough for the Angels to overcome and STM got out to an early lead and were winning 13-3 after the first quarter. STM extended this lead to roughly 20 points before the Angels battled back and cut the lead to 10 and for a while it looked like the Angels might make it close, but STM went on a 13-0 run and put the game out of reach.

With the game out of reach we decided to experiment with our zone press and against STM's bench it worked reasonably well and this was one of the bright spots of the game and foreshadowed what was to come in the next game.
