Giving Report 2016

Principal's Message

Thank you

Dear LFA Donor,

Giving in our community this year has had a profound impact on the day-to-day experience of each and every girl. We believe so strongly in our mission and vision. We know the high school experience being offered at Little Flower will be an important part of each girl having the self-confidence to do whatever it is she’s called to do.

Assertively seeking the best possible for our girls is not platitudes or marketing speak. It’s just what we do. But we couldn’t do it without a giving community. We launched our Annual Fund back in September with a goal of raising $400,000 for Annual Fund and moving our Technology Campaign forward towards a goal of $600,000 of capital enhancement over three years. Successfully achieving these goals would continue that transformation of each individual experience of every girl in our community. We made ambitious plans for how we might invest charitable donations in every aspect of the school experience. These plans have been more than realized and we owe you our thanks.

Our community continues to generously invest in Catholic education for young women. Gifts from parents, grandparents, alumnae, staff, past parents and Trustees of the LFA Foundation and the Board of Directors have enabled resources for the girls that are simply not possible on the tuition and government funding we receive. We’ve met our Annual Fund goal, meaning our basic operating shortfall has been robustly met and then some. With more than half our campaign goal committed already, we’ve also seen an incredible investment in the capital infrastructure of the school through our Technology Campaign. With BC Ministry curriculum changes on the horizon and an evolving pedagogy to teaching in the modern age upon us, LFA students will be blessed to learn in an environment that incorporates relevant technology for every student, in every class, and on demand.
Our girls are blessed to receive the education and experience they do. We feel blessed to be able to provide this experience. We can’t do it without you.
Measures of success are not just in dollars raised. We also continue to see giving participation amongst parents as among the highest of any of the Vancouver independent schools—not just Catholic schools. Incredibly, our Founders' Circle, which recognizes leadership giving, grew again for the eighth straight year. We also saw some of the widest community involvement in our school life in the history of the school. Parent Auxiliary events, alumnae events, Grandparents Day, Open House, and a celebration of the life Sr. Josephine Carney ’38 saw, literally, thousands of people join us at the school this year.

As is our tradition, this Report on Giving does not focus solely on numbers, but on the impact those numbers have had and the lives of those who have benefited from your generosity. These are just a few of the stories of how you, our donors, have helped to make that impact.

Thank you. You have enabled the very best in Catholic, all girls' education.
