Angel Wins Silver at National Poetry Recital Competition
Last Friday was the National Finals for Poetry in Voice, Canada’s National Poetry recitation competition. Our very own Joyce Chen '21 finished second in this prestigious competition. It is a remarkable feat to even make the finals, considering more than 20,000 students participated from coast to coast in local, regional, and national competitions. Well done Joyce!
If you want to re-watch the video of the event or if you’d like to share it, you can find it on the National Finals page. The press release is also on our website.
Scott Griffin, Founder of Poetry In Voice/Les voix de la poésie, expressed his admiration for the students’ work: “To recite poetry in front of a camera in an empty room is already quite something. But to manage to do it with such emotion and conviction is quite an accomplishment. Congratulations to all!”
Joyce joins LFA’s Jada Lodewyck '24, who also won silver in the Junior National Poetry in Voice Championship and a long list of past Angels who have made the National Finals, including Lorraine Fabre '18, Marissa Prado '17, Elizabeth Vaz '17, Hannah Goodridge '16, and Dede Akolo '14.
