Come Back Falls Just Short

Against a very well organized York House side, LFA really only found their best hockey in the final quarter. A furious comeback cut short by the final whistle.
LFA started slowly. After playing some lovely hockey these past couple of weeks, York House put the pressure on and it took us time to adapt. It was a game where we relied to heavily on Kaelen Uy '25, who played brilliantly. The first two goals were off tips and the third on a rebound after Kaelen made an incredible stick save.

By the fourth quarter, it felt like the Angels had finally found their groove. We were linking passes and finally breaking the press. Still, with about 7 minutes to go, YHS was up 3-0 and while we were finally getting some chances, it took a special play for us to break through. Some good work along the side by Christina Do '24 got the ball to Amy Stelling '26 on the shoulder of the D. She drove hard and low to the baseline where she ripped a stunning ball to Addie Hui '25. In what is surely in contention for goal of the year, Addie masterfully deflected the ball high, near side. The YHS goalie didn't even move it was so quick and well placed.

With the goal, LFA was suddenly full of belief. Another attack along the baseline ended up on Addie's stick and she reverse-swept the ball at goal, which went five-hole and trickled across the line. It was 3-2 and LFA was charging forward. The final two minutes were a whirlwind of back and forth hockey, but in the end it wasn't to be.

With the win, York claims top spot in Vancouver... but LFA hopes of finishing second and a better place at Zones are still alive.
