Introducing our New Chaplain

He is in his second year as pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in East Vancouver.  Father Gino grew up in Burnaby and attended Our Lady of Mercy Elementary School.  He did not have a home parish but describes his family as “spiritual gypsies” who attended a number of parishes.  He has fond memories of attending masses at Our Lady of Mercy, Holy Spirit in Queensborough, St. Francis de Sales, and St. Peter’s.

His high school years were at the Seminary of Christ the King where he was always first or second in his class (of two)!  He was ordained at St. Michael’s Parish in Burnaby in 1999.  His first assignment as assistant pastor was to Star of the Sea Parish in South Surrey/White Rock. 

Fr. Gino has much experience with high school chaplaincy.  He has been chaplain at St. John Brebeuf, St. Patrick’s, and Notre Dame high schools before choosing to join us this year.  He plans to be a regular Wednesday attendee and to make himself available to visit religion classes, preside at class masses, be available for confessions, and to be available if a student just wishes to talk to a priest. 

We welcome Fr. Gino to LFA and look forward to a long and rewarding relationship.
