Flourish Update: One Month of Construction

Axiom Builders moved onto the site on October 27th and quickly got to work. They began by putting fencing up along the north side of our campus along Alexandra St. and King Edward Ave. The shrubbery that long bordered our tennis courts was then removed to clear up the site, and the trees that line our campus along both Alexandra and King Edward had protective wooden framing installed around them.

The early days of construction also saw the site barracks assembled and equipped, construction materials were delivered, and surveying of the land was done. The arrival of an excavator and other construction vehicles then marked a period of rapid progress on the site. Within days the LFA field was stripped and levelled, Mr. Cannon's shed was demolished, and the tennis court was cleared and a gravel roadway on the King Edward side of the campus was constructed to facilitate the access of more construction vehicles. Next came the installation of the crane tower in a pit where Mr. Cannon's shed used to be, followed by the swift installation of rebar throughout the site, as the skeleton of the buildings foundation began to emerge. 

Now, foundation work is under way as concrete boom pumps precisely pour concrete onto the base of the site, and foundational structuring begins to take shape. The arrival of the crane this past weekend means the assembly of the mass timber-designed building itself will take place shortly. Today, what was our field, staff parking lot, and tennis court have morphed into a blank canvas of dirt, gravel, rebar, and concrete where our new campus will soon live.  

It's a very exciting time to be on campus as everyday finds something new and interesting happening on site with Axiom's construction crew hard at work. We are very much in the early days of construction, and there is much work to be done, but we are so assured and delighted by the incredible progress we've seen so far.
