Campus and Technology Update

We would like to thank all families for their support in school fundraising activities. As we continue to rely entirely on philanthropy for major campus improvements like this year's STEAM Lab expansion and Library upgrades, your generosity has made a profound impact. When students arrive back in September, they will see a number of really positive changes to the campus.
In addition to the regularly planned, ongoing  investments we make in classrooms and class-room technology upgrades, we will see two significant projects completed this summer, ready for school in September.

STEAM Lab
Thanks to gifts given through the Annual Fund the Parents' Auxiliary fundraising efforts, and especially the LFA Foundation, we will finish the bulk of our multi-year project of building a new lab for our STEAM program. This summer, we will refinish the floor, install a new ventilation system, and replace all of the furniture. The new furniture will provide students with modern work spaces that allow for collaboration, design, and testing. We are very proud of the STEAM program that we have built over the last few years. Every student has access to this technology regularly as tech and coding skills have been formally integrated across all disciplines and grade levels. In addition, a large number of students participate in the extra-curricular STEAM club which participated in design challenges at UBC and SFU.

Library
The LFA Foundation's work with key donors and widespread support through this year's Annual Fund has enabled further upgrades to the library over the summer, converting it to a dynamic space that begs students to lose themselves in literature. The fiction area, complete with fireplace and comfortable seating, will have the addition of wooden shelving over the summer. We are proud that our school library circulation rates rival that of many public libraries. In this refurbished area of the library, students will be encouraged to explore and imagine. We will also be hard at work, putting the finishing touches on the 2nd seminar space in the library. The seminar rooms provide students with a place to meet and collaborate. Finally, students returning to the fall will see updated technology that includes new iMac workstations to compliment existing Chromebooks and PC workstations.

Report on Giving
Philanthropy in our community continues to set LFA apart. Where gifts both enrich every girl's experiences and ensure accessibility broadly in our community, this past year has been superlative. Take a moment to see how impactful giving is on our school in our 2018 Report on Giving
