Message from the Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians:

As this first term of the school year nears its end and we look forward to Christmas, I look back over these first four months of school with admiration for what we’ve achieved already this school year.

Our Welcome Back BBQ in September and International Dinner in November were both successful and enjoyable community building events.  I extend my sincere appreciation to all of you who gave of your time and talent to prepare, plan for and host these evenings.

As the New Year dawns, two community events will take place in January.  Parents will be hosting the Ad Lucem Gala on Friday, January 22nd at 6:00 p.m. at the UBC Golf Club. Get your tickets soon, as I hear they’re moving quickly! I look forward to seeing you there as we gather as a community and support the purchase of a new school bus.

The second event is being launched by the Board of Directors of Little Flower Academy.  The Board is starting the process of building a strategic plan for our school.  This first step in this process is consulting our LFA community, which will take place in the form of a survey.  The goal of the survey is to develop an understanding of the views of the members of the LFA community – Sisters of St. Ann, members of the Board, members of the Jane Rowan Society, parents, teachers, staff, alumnae, and students.  The feedback received will inform and guide the strategic planning process.  The objectives of the survey:

• Receive the perspective of multiple key stakeholders in providing feedback;
• Establish benchmarks for how stakeholders feel about critical aspects of the school;
• Ensure an inclusive and collaborative process;
• Gather both current and relevant data that enables clear decision making.

The members of the Board’s Strategic Planning Committee are:  Irene Hensel (Grad of ’88 and Committee Chair), Jacy Wingson (Daughters -Teeghan 04, Janille 10, Tehlana 14), and Msgr. Mark Hagemoen, Kathy Clarke (Teacher), Ben Fitch (Director of Advancement) and me.   

This online survey will be available on January 6th. Parents and guardians are critical to this process. We will send more information about how to access this survey when we return to school in January and I encourage each and every one of you to participate in this process.
