Model UN - Universtiy of Chicago

Mrs. Mills, Model UN Club sponsor teacher and 28 students along with Mr. Coady as chaperone, attended Model UN in Chicago at the Palmer House Hilton Feb 3-7, 2010.  Our students represented El Salvador and Lithuania on 8 different committees.  Outstanding Delegate 1^st Place Awards were awarded to Alexandra Lam, who represented El Salvador on her committee, the Rio Group (a conference of Latin American and Caribbean heads of state) and Elizabeth Perez and Kim Truong who represented the World Health Organization. All three awards were great accomplishments, however Elizabeth and Kim placed 1^st on a committee of 191 countries!

Model UN Chicago was a valuable learning experience for all the students. Other highlights of the trip included a city tour and visits to Grant Field, where Obama gave his speech after the election, the famous War Memorial and Museum and of course the Oprah Winfrey Studios!
