Hampers of Hope 2013: Executive Student Council's Christmas Outreach Project
Miss Sarah Matossian
Executive Student Council has once again started Hampers of Hope 2013, our major outreach initiative to 18 needy families from Vancouver’s East Side. Executive Student Council worked together to prepare an assembly to motivate the student body to change the way they think about Christmas – to be more aware of how each person can help others, in big and small ways. One way our school community can do that together is through our annual Hampers of Hope project.
Executive Student Council has been organizing LFA’s Christmas hamper tradition for a countless number of years, and it is always our most special time of year as we think beyond ourselves and come together as a school to help make a special Christmas for some of Vancouver’s neediest families.
We encourage each LFA family to contribute as much as they can to our 18 hampers, since these hampers are likely the only Christmas presents these families receive.
Each homeroom receives a specific hamper profile, outlining the ages, preferences, and clothing sizes of each person within that homeroom’s assigned family. Each homeroom is also encouraged to work together to also provide: non-perishable food items, hygiene items, school supplies or practical gift cards (Superstore, London Drugs, Walmart)
All gifts have to be wrapped and ready to be picked up the morning of Tuesday, Dec 10th.
Each year, we are so touched by the generosity demonstrated by our school community for Hampers of Hope, and the recipient families are always so incredibly grateful.
Thank you in advance for your care, compassion and generosity for those in need within our city.
