Encounter XXI/Grade 12 Retreat

Encounter XXI returned late yesterday afternoon from four wonderful but wet days at Stillwood Camp near Cultus Lake. The leadership team consisting of Eleni Mellios -director, Fonda Chau and Monica Ta-assistant directors, and Jessica Chan, Maria Gomez, Katie Harris, Luby Kletas, Ashley Miller, Merlene Monay, Maria Wilson, and Michelle Yang -cabin leaders, left Thursday afternoon to prepare the way. The candidates and adult chaperones arrived 24 hours later.

For four days the students were immersed in prayer, presentations, and activities designed to help them appreciate how important it is to really listen to others and get to know them. There was much laughter, crying, hugging, and general bonding throughout the event. Our thanks to the adult chaperones -Janelle Moy (grad 2012), Linda Graham (former teacher), Corilee Cotter, Katie Larson, Diane Little, Katelyn McGuinty, and Brian Taylor- who so generously gave of their time. We could not run this very special retreat program without their support.
