Angels Make their Mark at Tennis Provincials

This year’s tennis team had an excellent season! The team started off strong with decisive wins against West Point Grey Academy, Notre Dame and Saint Thomas More. Against their long-time rival St. George's and Crofton, the Angels (along with their counterparts from Vancouver College) battled hard, only losing by one match each time.

The team’s toughest match, however, was against Churchill in the qualifiers for Provincials. In a tough loss, the "Irish Angels" were defeated 6-5. They did not give up, however, and continued on to beat Lord Byng the next day, then to defeat Churchill in a rematch to earn their spot in Provincials!

At Provincials, the "Irish Angels" continued to display their determined, hard working and sportsmanlike attitude, as they battled hard to finish 5th place overall. Many thanks go out to the team’s coaches, Pat Macken and Justin Chinfen for their support, to the team’s teacher sponsor, the enthusiastic Senora Espinel, to their captains Laura Bees, JP Yun and Martin Lorayes, and last but not least, to their organized, upbeat manager Audrey Castillo.
