Volleyball Angels Grab Silver

After a tough week with two disappointing losses, the Junior Volleyball Angels hoped to get back to their winning ways at the 15 team tournament at Harry Jerome Sports Centre, affectionately known as the "The Fridge".
The coaching staff put their inclusive playing time philosophy to work. Some players were unavailable, but because Coach Adrian has been so good at playing every player in every game throughout the season, the girls are ready and engaged and confident stepping in.

The Angels, expected to finish first in their pool, accomplished that with convincing 2-0 wins over Delta and Burnaby Central. The quarter final match against Pacific Christian was close, but timely executed serves and net play earned a 2-0 win.

In the semi-final, LFA defeated highly ranked Langley Fundamental, winning the first set and then a well-earned second set win in a nail-biter: 26-24. The final was a rematch of the Rebels Tournament, which LFA won last month against Moscrop. In this game the Panthers won both sets as they took advantage of the Angels' tentative play and some unforced errors.

It was a great bounce-back weekend for the Angels as they prepare for the league stretch drive and into the playoffs. Thanks to the coaches and parents for their time and support and the Angels display of "Ad Lucem" by their sportsmanship and being respectful of officials.
