Congratulations to Morgan Nunez '19 who represented LFA in the Provincial Honour Wind Ensemble last month. Each year the BC Music Educators' Association gives an opportunity to music students from all across the province to audition to be a part of one of the Provincial Instrumental or Choral Groups. After a lengthy audition process, Morgan was selected to perform at the BC Music Educator's Conference Concert as part of the Honour Wind Ensemble this year.
Although, LFA doesn't have an instrumental program, Morgan has been an active participant in the Liturgy Band. Her dedication and commitment to the music program at LFA made her an excellent candidate for this opportunity. We congratulate her on this exceptional accomplishment!
"I recently had the privilege to perform as a clarinetist in British Columbia's Honour Wind Ensemble. In the two intensive days leading up to the concert, we met with our conductor Dr. Ralph Hultgren, who had travelled from Australia, to perfect our performance pieces. The rehearsals were gruelling at times, but also gave us the opportunity to grow as musicians not only through our technique, but our mindset as well. Under the guidance of Dr. Hultgren, we learnt to develop our musicality and to have confidence in our abilities as musicians. Reflecting on the entire experience, this is one of the most important lessons I've take away with me. The experience also gave me the opportunity to meet with other like-minded teenagers who had a real passion for performing in the ensemble. They each had exceptional talent and skill for the instruments they were playing, which has really motivated me to develop and build upon my own techniques. In closing, I would like to sincerely thank Ms. Mislang for her guidance in supporting me to take the first steps in making this entire experience possible. Being a part of this ensemble has inspired me to seek out similar opportunities in the future, which I'd never dreamt was a possibility before now." - Morgan Nunez '19
