Silver for Junior Basketball

Our Junior Basketball team travelled out to Maple Ridge to take part in the Kiwanis tournament. Far from taking the weekend off after exam week, the girls put in an outstanding effort and played some great basketball on their way to a silver medal.
The team was short-handed for all three games and down to six players in the final game, but showed their resiliency taking home second place in the tournament. The Angels offence fearlessly attacked the basket executing their crisp passing plays to near perfection. With their system working well and playing so cohesively, the girls were regularly left with easy layups and un-defended shots. Little wonder that nearly every player had such great shooting percentages!

The games, as they often are at competitve tournaments were, at times, physical. Our Angels, the knocked and a little bruised, were quick to get up and were disciplined to get their revenge by sinking their free throws. A big thank you for the "hip hop dancing" managers that tried to keep the team loose; the parents who came out (some who drove to rain-soaked Maple Ridge twice in one day) to loudly cheer on the Angels; and, to the coaches for their time and dedication.

Come see the 5-0 Angels finish their league play this Wednesday at LFA vs. cross street rival York House. After that, it's playoff time!
