Changes to Curriculum and Graduation Requirements

The new curriculum will be fully implemented in Grades 8 - 9 in September 2016 and in Grades 10 – 12 in September 2017.

To support the new curriculum, the Ministry of Education has just announced changes to the graduation requirements which apply to students in Grades 10 – 12. For students entering Grades 10, all changes to the graduation requirements will take effect in September 2016. For students entering Grades 11 and 12, program changes have been modified to ensure minimal impact to the students’ educational programs.

The most notable change is the phasing out of provincial exams. These exams will be replaced by provincial literacy and numeracy assessments.
