Recent Grads Working to Make a Difference

Alumnae Lucia Stokovac '13 and Stephanie Fowler '08 are pursuing their passion for promoting social justice for women in vulnerable communities through her work with the Dixon Transition Society. These two amazing young women are raising funds for the Dixon Transition Society’s Charity Challenge as they run in the Scotiabank 5km and Half Marathon.
In May 2016, Lucia Stokovac ’13 began her first UBC co-op work term at the Dixon Transition Society, a non-profit organization that raises awareness and provides a continuum of services including safe housing, support, counselling and education for women and children impacted by violence. Being able to work promoting feminist ideology, independence, and equality in a pro-women’s organization is a passion Lucia has developed through her years at LFA.

As an avid member of the Model UN Club at LFA, Lucia became interested in politics and women’s rights. When Lucia began working for Dixon, she was ecstatic to find out that her supervisor and fellow former LFA Angel Stephanie Fowler '08 shares in her passion for humanitarian issues. Together, Lucia and Stephanie would like to invite the LFA alumnae community to support them in raising funds for the Dixon Transition Society’s Charity Challenge as they run in the Scotiabank 5km and Half Marathon. For more information feel free to contact Lucia or Stephanie at operations@dixonsociety.ca.
