Angels Tie but Lose Shoot-out

In the final game of the tournament, our Angels showed both poise and determination, never once failing to give their best effort.
Whereas each previous game at Bridgman had LFA up against an opponent with more hockey experience under their belts, we lined up pretty evenly against Mt. Doug. The first half was remarkable in how even it was played. Allison Kuzyk '20 scored a beautiful goal off a hard hit into the top of the net that set the tone for our attack. Sadly, Mt. Doug responded with two goals on scrambles. Neither particularly the result of system or skill. It mattered not, as we entered the second half down 2-1.

The second half was all LFA. Mt. Doug desperately tried to simply clear their zone. They only managed that a handful of times. LFA had short corner after short corner, but couldn't get one away cleanly on the bouncy field turf. Gabby Lee '19 shone up front, creating all sorts of havoc for the Mt. Doug defence. Eleanor Morrison '19 was brilliant in the midfield, giving Nicole Shi '18 the wide side, which she worked beautifully with Gabby. It was fitting that Gabby got our goal to draw even. It was a shame the winning goal never came. In the end, we lost 4-3 in the shoot-out but much was learned from the experience.

The girls will know they were in every game, agains the top opposition in the province. Should we make it to AA Provincials, it will be nothing like the compeittiion we saw in this elite AAA tournament. Well done, Angels.
