BC Catholic Champions

The BC Catholics Tournament is one of the most competitive competitions outside of the Provincial Championships. The team played well throughout, winning 6 of 7 games en route to their championship. Critically, in the playoff rounds when it was all on the line, the team did not falter. 

The team was led by the all-around play of Jessica Goodridge '18 (who was named tournament all-star and the most sportsman-like person at the tournament) and the steady passing and defense of Kristie Mar '17. However, the victory was truly a complete team effort.

At the end of round robin play the Angels found themselves in second place in their pool. After beating Holy Cross in the Quarter-Finals they faced a resilient STM team. The Angels outlasted the Knights from STM 2-1, 15-13 in the third set. It was, frankly, a thrilling game. This set the stage for the finals match up between LFA and ND. 

ND was riding a big semi-finals win over the league leading St. Pat's and were a tough match for the Angels. The Angels were able to string together a series of points through excellent defense and attacking - led by Jessica and Maria Liaskas '17 - which gave the Angels a 1-0 lead in the match. ND fired back through efficient attacking and excellent serving to even the match at one-a-piece. The third set began with a bang - with ND's tournament MVP, Mia Ricci, smashing a ball down the line that was impressively dug by Jaclyn Miller '18. The elite defensive played turned into LFA's first point of the third set. This must have demoralized ND, because there was no stopping the Angels after that point, who went on to win the game 15-7 and bring home the banner to LFA again. Way to go Angels!
