Big Night of Volleyball

LFA hosted the regional playoffs last night, with both our Junior team and our Bantam (grade 8) team vying for a spot in the finals. For our Juniors, it was celebration and anticipation of the championship game and Junior Provincial Championship to come while our Bantams suffered a heart-breaking loss by the closest of margins.
There was a sense of excitement at Kelly Gym as our Angels waited for the outcome in the Junior Quarter-Final match between York House and Notre Dame and the Bantam Quarter-Final between York House and St. Pats.

The Juniors came up against Notre Dame. For a few of the Grade 10's on the team, it was the third straight regional Semi-Final match against ND, dating back to their own Bantam team. The Junior Angels came out strong, taking a decisive first set win. The second set stumbled slightly out of the gates and they found themselves down 5-1 early. However, the Angels rebounded with timely ball placement on service return and great hustle-plays to recover  loose balls. When the momentum shifted, they never looked back. They will play in the finals again this year.

On the other court, the Bantam Angels lined up against St. Pats. Trading a set each, it went to the decisive third set. St. Pats pulled out the the win 15-13. The Bantam Angels should be proud of their season and LFA volleyball continues to show a bright future.

Come cheer on the girls on Thursday! St Pats will host the finals as the Junior Angels play rival STM for league championship.
