This past month, Rachelle Payandeh '20 represented Canada at the IDO World Showdance Championship. Being part of Team Canada was a dream come true.
"Rachelle has been dancing since she was just over two years old," her mother explains. "Since that time she has learned several different disciplines of dance including tap, classical and lyrical ballet, jazz, hip hop, acro, modern stage and others. Over the years, she has won numerous medals at dance competitions. Competing in the World Showdance Championship in the Junior category, as part of Team Canada was a fantastic opportunity for her ... it’s a dream come true."
To Rachelle's credit, she's managed this exceptional opportunity while keeping up with her academic commitments and her 'regular' dance classes, which is already about 20 hours a week.
Congratulations on being part of the team, which was awarded 10th place. The caliber of participating dancers and their energy and excitement was very high and Team Canad did really well.
