Angels are Lower Mainland Champs

Alexis Fong '19
This past Friday and Saturday, the Senior Volleyball Angels played in the AAA Lower Mainland Tournament at McRoberts in Richmond. Though not without some close games and some great competition, our Angels ran the table, going undefeated to claim top spot at the Lower Mainlands.
The Angels struggled during their first game, perhaps due to lack of focus but still managed to get the win in two sets. The girls played much better during the second and third games, as they cruised past the competition winning both games in straight sets. LFA finished pool playwith a perfect 3-0 record and were headed to the semi-finals.

For the semi-final match, the Senior Volleyball Angels played the host McRoberts. With strong defence and amazing kills, the Angels won in two sets. After a one game break, the Angels played Crofton House in the finals. Even though they beat the Falcons 3-0 in league play, Crofton was not to be underestimated and the Angels knew it. The Angels had a rough start, falling behind 8-2 in the first set. Crofton kept getting points on service runs and the Angels lost the first set 25-19. In the second set though, the Angels came out stronger than ever. The girls got dig after dig as the Crofton girls kept hammering it down. Huge blocks and killer spikes helped the Angels win the second set. The game was tied 1-1. In the third set, the Angels continued with their dominant performance getting stuff blocks and spectacular digs. The Angels eventually won the third set, claiming the title of ‘AAA Lower Mainland Tournament Champions’. It was a well-deserved win for the Angels. Everyone did their part well and the girls played as a team.

The season is still not over as the Angels will be playing in the AAA Senior Volleyball Provincials from November 30th to December 2nd. Come cheer us on! Go Angels!
