Our LFA Public Speakers have had quite an autumn! In October, Katarina Szulc '19 qualified at the International Public Speaking Competition held in Winnipeg to compete as part of the Canadian team at the World’s Individual Debating and Public Speaking competition to be held in Cape Town, South Africa in April (which is a really big deal). But she wasn't the only Angel to stand out in competitions this fall as both Jeanna Pillainayagam '19 and Asha Mior '20 have qualified for the National Public Speaking Competition to be held in Winnipeg in February.
The larger Public Speaking team of Jeanna, Katarina, and Asha as well as Tiffany Chen '19, Maia Lan'20 and Rosemary Vayalikunnel '19 did incredibly well at the Public Speaking Provincial competition this year, which was held in West Vancouver at Mulgrave School in November.
Jeanna stole the show at Provincials, being awarded top senior speaker in the province this year! Asha Mior '20 also performed amazingly, claiming third place overall and second place for her "Impromptu". Katarina participated again, winning a gold medal for her "Interpretive Reading".
What's interesting is that either Jeanna or Asha can actually qualify to join Katarina at Worlds through the National tournament. Regardless, our team continues to represent the school wonderfully and do themselves a great credit each time they get up to speak.
