The Senior A Angels played great hockey all weekend at the UBC Field Hockey Tournament, capping their final day with two convincing wins over Kelowna and West Van.
Throughout the festival tournament, our Field Hockey Angels were in fine form. Their level of play earned them accolades from the UBC Varsity Field Hockey coach and several other neutral observers. They had solid wins over York House, Kelowna and West Van. A draw against AAA Handsworth was a fair result. Their lone came against AAA powerhouse Cowichan and fellow AA team Shawnigan Lake, though the girls held the lead agianst Cowichan until the final few minutes when they gave up a couple of short corner goals.
Among the many bright spots in LFA's play was their ability to control the game with dynamic team play. Accolades specially go to Gracie Korac '20 and Mikayla Stelling '21, who really established themselves as elite high school central midfielders over the weekend. With the solid centre, the distribution and control becomes stronger with each game. Special mention must also go to Allison Kuzyk '20, who is a dominant scorer again this year.
