COVID-19 Update: March 19, 2020

We are well underway in developing a plan to ensure your daughters will have a meaningful learning experience to return to after the break. We ask for your patience as the Ministry of Education develops province-wide education plans, and we--at the school level--work on adapting our curriculum delivery. We will be sharing more details of our plan once we can be assured that they are aligned with Ministry of Education directives. While remote delivery is new to all of us, it offers us some exciting opportunities to re-imagine our curriculum.
Please takea moment to read the most recent letter from the Minister of Education (PDF). In the letter, he assures parents that students on track to move to the next grade will do so in the fall, and students eligible to graduate in June will do so. Of course, many questions still exist and we will do our best to get information out to parents as it becomes available.

Over the last few weeks, we have seen some shocking examples of people putting their personal needs before the greater good. These moments have saddened us. However, let us not be blind to the many beautiful examples of people helping their neighbours. I pray that all of our students have opportunities to witness, receive, and commit acts of kindness, patience, and understanding during this difficult time. As a Catholic community, let us use this time to celebrate and live out the Gospel message.

Support for Students and Families
We are very aware that the impact on our families may be significant and multi-faceted. Student counselling services will be available after Spring Break for students needing support. Details of accessing our support services will be made available at that time.

One of our core values is service, whereby we show compassion to make our school, community and society a more just and caring place. For those on the monthly tuition payment plan, there is only the April installment left for this school year. If the current crisis means your family is facing economic hardship, you are invited to contact our Director of Finance, Gabriela Oteiza, at oteizag@lfabc.org to speak to her about alternate payment arrangements.
