Angels Drop Game to Rival York House

Despite a very strong showing over the weekend at the UBC tournament and some brisk practices to start the week, we struggled against York House for large parts of yesterday's game.
The team worked hard throughout, but was a victim of too many mistakes. It was really uncharacteristic of this group, but a natural thing to have an "off" game in any season. There was also lots of good things to take away and build on. Among them was a genuinely excellent performance by Athena Pucovsky '19 in net. She really put her stamp on the game in the second half and was a force in our D. When we got our press down, we were able to sustain lots of pressure for good parts of the game, generating lots of short corners and several shots on net. The York goalie played very well, making a number of saves to preserve the lead they were able to build and keep the momentum from shifting. Gabby Lee '19 played extremely well and will be disappointed not to have sunk a goal in the second half as she had several looks at net. The build-up continues to be, at times, truly amazing. Alex Legge '19, Gracie Korac '20 and Naomi Shi '18 all had excellent games on the wide halves. Frances Scheepers '18 put in another super effort in the central D.

There was a sense that if we could just get one goal, we might break out. It didn't happen. To the immense credit of the team, they chose an optional practice today. With a golden attitude and heaps of hockey left to play, there good things in store for this team.
