Angels Clinch Berth in AAA Provincial Championships

Angels survive early scare to win comfortably in the AAA Sea to Sky Zone Championship quarter finals. The win books them a ticket to the AAA Provincial Championships in Cowichan in November.
The Hamber Griffins came out flying against our Angels. Winning 50/50 balls and playing a well-rehearsed system, LFA coughed up a number of early chances to Hamber. A couple of short corners decided nothing, but one counter attack led to a scramble in front of Katelyn, who had the first save, but couldn't also get the rebound. Hamber took the early 1-0 lead.

LFA immediately dug deep to find another gear. Eva was denied on a break away shortly after the Hamber goal, but then converted a lovely short corner flick as LFA was rewarded for their upped pressure. Rachel would double the lead early in the second quarter, after a brilliant bit of hockey from Serena. Eva would round out the lead with her second goal of the game. Up 3-1, LFA seemed to settle into their game. Rachel would get her second on a short corner feed from Gabby to make it 4-1 before half time. The second half was largely LFA, but the Hamber goalie stood tall. Bella would round out the scoring late in the fourth, with a brilliant deflection into the upper meshing of the net.

With the win, LFA will face old rival Collingwood in the Zone semifinals. From here on out, the Zones are about seeding for the Provincial championships. Meanwhile, Hamber will have to play out the 5-8 bracket to see if they can snag the back-door berth into the Provinicals.

Come cheer on your Angels next Wednesday, when they play Collingwood after school.
