Basketball Bronze

Parent contributor
Our Senior Basketball Angels continue to play exceptionally well, winning bronze this weekend at the Churchill tournament.
While disappointed they were not playing for gold, the girls were determined to “finish strong”. They took the bronze medal game as an opportuniyt to implement a different look: instead of their usual half-court game, the coaches had them play fast break basketball, which will have been familiar to those who stepped up from last year's exciting junior team. The plan worked, as Churchill was not prepared for the aerial passing display our girls put on. With players breaking towards the basket, taking the fast passes, our Angels built up a lead by as much by thirty points.

Raichel Feenan ’18 and Allison Kuzyk ’20, both generally post players, even got into the action; running the floor, scoring “chippies”, as well as blocking shots on the defensive end. In the third quarter, with only two subs available, the Angels began to tire, which gave a fresher Churchill some momentum. The hustle of Isabel Jalandoon ’19 was particularly noteworthy and the Angels were able to close out the game with a convincing 71-48 win. Although it’s a team of unsung heroes, congratulations to Ceili McCabe ’19, 2nd team All-Star and to Maya Landero-Van ’20, 1st team All-Star.

The Angels will get ready for the Senior Catholic Basketball tournament next week before term exams. Go Angels!
