Spotlight: Bantam Field Hockey

The LFA Bantam field hockey team had a really great year.  The team improved their skills and teamwork quickly with practice.  They started the season off with an all-day tournament against Crofton, York, and Rockridge. They tied with York house, won against Crofton and lost to Rockridge.
After the tournament they started the season. After a excellent battle and 2-1 loss to the LFA Jr. team the team rallied and beat Crofton House 2-0. The following week they tied York House, but beat them the next week at playoffs with a final score of 2-1. They were back to playing the LFA Juniors for the second playoff game. This was possibly the most exciting game of the year. There were amazing shots on goal but both goalies made excellent saves to keep the score low. They were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation so a shootout was necessary. The Jr. team prevailed in the shootout but the Bantams were proud of their effort and skill.

The final game was a friendly game against Kits. The Bantams worked hard and carried the play throughout. The game ended with a 4-0 win and the Bantams had great fun playing against another grade 8 team. They wrapped it all up with a pizza party at Kits after the final game.

The year of field hockey was a great way for all the girls to make lasting friendships. A special thank you goes to Mrs. Canil, Mr. Cannon and Marisa Pavone for coaching the girls. The team all-stars are:

Bernice Ng '23: fearless fighter
Alicia Lung '23: quick stick
Claire Van Breemen '23: perseverance
Shiobhan Fisher '23: lightning
