Congratulations to the very capable MUN delegation who attended the CAHSMUN conference in April at the Sheraton Wall Centre
Being awarded the Best Large School Delegation of the conference is a great honor and a testament to the strength of all students in attendance not just the award winners.
We did receive 7 individual awards which is a very large number for any one school. Our awards were as follows - The Best Delegate Awards (1st place) - Juri Matsuda who represented the Philippines on SOCHUM (a committee of about 50 students); Jasmine Luc who was a Chinese corporate leader for the Starbucks corporation The Outstanding Delegate Awards (2nd place) - Sienna Geissler who represented Mexico on UNODC; KristinaZubkova who represented China on UNODC; Rachel Li who represented Ginny Weasley on FCC (the fictional crisis committee on Harry Potter); Julia Tran who represented France on the very competitive Security Council committee Honorable Mention Award (3rd place)- Viki Herrera who represented Thailand on UNOOSA.
Well done to all individual award winners-this was quite a sweep!
As always, LFA engaged well in debate on each committee as students were so well researched and prepared. Additionally, the students grew through the experience of this conference-growing in knowledge and confidence, while learning to effectively liaise with others to form resolutions. One has to be assertive at MUN conferences and this skill is one all LFA Model UN students develop at each and every conference. Moreover, all students increased their knowledge and awareness of issues of the world today. Some of the issues discussed involved new dangerous pharmaceuticals that are currently circulating, AI regulation in healthcare; expanding access to mental help services and access to clean water in developing countries. These topics among others were extremely interesting, relevant and stimulating. Congratulations to the entire LFA delegation-you make LFA proud!
