    The distinguished Alumni awards celebrate accomplishments in areas such as community development, lifelong learning, business innovation, excellence in a sport or someone who has done extraordinary work in their field. We eagerly seek nominations by November 30th for the 2019 Distinguished Alumnae. Last year we celebrated Clare Smart '91 and Emily Cordonier '01 for their humanitarian work and excellence in sport.

    LFA Movie Producer Finds Huge Success

    It has been really fun for many of us at LFA to watch the amount of attention and publicity that Kat Jayme '06 has received for her recent film, Finding Big Country. Not the least of which is seeing LFA basketball footage in the trailers! The film had an enthralling world premier at the VIFF. In addition to a planned second showing, they've added another because of the demand.

    "Word Vancouver", a festival of reading and writing, is coming up on September 30, 2018. The event will take place in and around the Central VPL library. Very excitingly, it will feature LFA alumna Jane Whittingham '02, who is a children's book author.

  • Alumna Running for Park Board

    LFA alumna Ann-Marie (Carter) Copping '81 will be running for Park Board in the upcoming Vancouver civic election on October 20. She attended LFA for 5 years from grades 6-10 (grad 1981) and when her daughter, Lauren Copping '12 started at LFA, Ann-Marie became involved in the Parents' Auxiliary Committee and was active with the Alumnae Executive.

Congratulations to Clare Smart ‘91 and Emily Cordonier ’01, who are this year's inductees. Clare has demonstrated extraordinary community service, both through her successful career in policing and through her personal and deeply committed humanitarian outreach work. Emily reached the highest international levels in her sport, captaining the Canadian volleyball team, before bridging her athletic success into a successful broadcast journalism career.

    For many of our alumnae, they’ve watched our alumnae newsletter evolve from a few stories on a glossy sheet of paper into its current form—a stunning magazine, full of alumnae and school stories, alongside beautiful photography. While the format is strikingly different, the constant is the grass-roots input of storytelling and submissions of photos and ideas by our alumnae community. In that regard, it is over 80 pages of compelling reading for the more than 3000 alumnae, parents, and incoming families who receive the publication.

    On Monday, August 29, 2016, Matthew and Linda Ma passed away as a result of a tragic car accident. Matthew and Linda, parents of alumna, Melilssa (Ma) Ramos ’94 we were very active members of the Little Flower Academy community. They left behind their beloved family: their daughter Melissa, (Alexky Ramos) and three beautiful grandchildren, Anastazya, Annika, and Mattias.

    2017 Distinguished Alumnae Announcement

    Little Flower Academy is very pleased to announce two recipients of the 2017 Distinguished Alumnae award. We wish to acknowledge and congratulate Patricia (Grossmith) Cladis ’55 and Emily Ohler ’93 as this year's inductees. Patricia has had an extraordinary career as a leading physicist: a true pioneer for women in science. An accommplished laywer, Emily served the Security Council of the United Nations for many years before returning to British Columbia, where she has used her experience to work for gender equality and the defence of human rights.

    In the planning to take our field hockey players back to England this spring, we were in touch with a few LFA alumnae who are now based in the UK.
